'82 Camaro Z 28

The 3rd Generation

When Chevrolet designed their 3rd generation Camaro (F-Body platform) for the 1982 model year introduction, it featured all new chassis components (including MacPherson strut front suspension, coil spring rear suspension with torque arm) plus a quick, precise 14.0:1 steering ratio. Wheelbase was now 101 inches.

Top engine was the 5.0 liter "Cross Fire Injection" V8. The completely redesigned body was highlighted by the 62-degree steeply raked windshield, which at the time was the most extreme angle in GM history. Also part of the new body was a hatchback feature, where the rear seat folded down for expanded cargo space.

The rear glass was at the time the most complex piece of automotive glass ever produced industry wide. This new design for the Camaro provided improved handling with a crisp, modern appearance.
