When the second-generation Dodge Charger was released starting with the 1968 model year, with a three-year run, it injected a whole new performance theme to the Dodge Division of the Chrysler Corporation.
"R/T" version buyers were treated to a standard "440-Magnum" V8 engine and there was only one optional powerplant: the mighty 426 Hemi! The body shape was freshly designed and as a result the new Charger was considered that years most striking.
The iconic shape incorporated a pleasing "coke-body" theme that featured smooth lines, and subtly rounded curves all carved in near perfect proportions. The rear window now had a tunnel-type design that provided a "fastback" side profile. It’s known as an original design that has a distinctive and aerodynamic look from any angle! A front wrap-a-round bumper came for 1970, the final year of this body shape.
