To say the new car from Chevrolet was "all-new" was a major understatement, as the car was lower, wider, and featured a completely different look from anything from the division ever before!
The complete design was a sales success and helped Chevrolet regain (from Ford in 1957) as America's top seller, claiming 29.5 of all vehicle sales in the US market that year. The pictured Bel Air Impala Sport Coupe featured "pitchforks" trim located in front of the rear wheels. An available new 348-cid V8 also debuted this model year.
